Clearview is the rectangle of streets between Grand Junction Road, Hampstead Road and Enfield, about eight kilometres north of the city and a suburb away from our office in Blair Athol. It takes its name from the high ground it sits on: from parts of the suburb you can see across the plains towards Port Adelaide.
Most of it was almond orchard until the 1950s, when the first modest post-war homes went up, and almond trees still turn up in back yards. Those original houses are steadily giving way to new homes and townhouses, and being this close to the city is why buyers keep coming.
