The suburb

Wemark Real Estate sells, leases and manages homes in Pooraka, 4.6 km from our office in Blair Athol. In the twelve months to September 2026 we secured 3 tenancies here. The median house price here was $920,000 in April to June 2026, across 22 settled sales, according to the South Australian Valuer-General.

Pooraka sits about twelve kilometres north of the city in the City of Salisbury, between Mawson Lakes and Ingle Farm, with Main North Road, Bridge Road and Montague Road running through it. It was called Dry Creek, after the local watercourse, until the council renamed it in 1916, and it had its own station on the Northfield railway line until 1987.

Most of the housing dates from the post-war decades, with newer townhouses where the older blocks have been subdivided. Mawson Lakes’ shops, university and train station are a short drive away, which is much of the reason renters and first-home buyers look here.
